Nerf Retaliator MCX Kit Installation

Finally I am back after a long time,I almost forgotten this blog even existed. There are so many things that we have to catch up on.Heck, the articles I'm writing about are all damn outdated. However, this blog will mainly serve as an archive on basic stuff to get a person well acquainted with the hobby and not look like an idiot when discussing such things.

Now,let's get started on today's topic.

Today,I'm going to teach you on how to install the MCX kit on the Retaliator. Or in today's context, the Prophecy*

*A recent retaliator reshell from Worker that came out last year.By now, pretty much many have owned it or witnessed its power.

I am going to perform the installation on the long over due commission.

Step #1

The parts that you get when you open the box.

God bless my formatting skills.

Once you opened up the package, you shall get:
-a small zip-lock bag of screws and parts
-MCX shell cover for the main body of the Ret
-Triangular cover piece
-MCX pump grip assembly(which consists of)
->MCX pump grip cover
->the pump grip
->orange Worker barrel
->a red barrel with a gasket to connect the grip to the Ret

Now,let's play a closer attention to the internal pump grip assembly.

Before you pull the covers out, there is a screw intact right there,in the picture above.Unscrew that.

So these are the parts within the assembly as previously mentioned.

Now that you have laid out all your parts,it is time to open up the shell for the Ret.

Step #2

Reminder!Do your schedule maintenance if you haven't done so.

Gut out the internals until you have clear access to the priming grip. You'll see a bright silver screw with a washer.

Unscrew that, and don't forget the other half of the shell.

And as for these, you'll won't be needing these anymore.
(well,at least for this mod guide)

Take your boltsled assembly, and from the small zip-lock bag, extract 2 of these pins as shown as the picture above.

Take the 2 pins and stick it in on this portion of the boltsled with the threaded end facing out.

Remember, tolerance of products do exist,so if you happen to struggle to insert the pins due to a interference fit,be sure to take a file and open up the slot when necessary.File it until you get a satisfactory fitting,a flushed and snug fit.

You should be getting these at the end.

Observing by the picture, yes,it is not inserted fully. So be sure to force it in until the black ring is in close contact to the boltsled.

And yes,for this,I used a clamp.But of course,you can use a mallet.

As long as you get the expected result,it doesn't matter what tool you use.If it works,it works.

Step #3

That's done.Put back all your internals into the correct respective places.

And be sure to lubricate your blaster and perform necessary maintenance if you haven't done so.

Close the shell and you're good to go.

Hold on a second, you haven't yet installed the most important part yet.Not to worry,we are getting there.

Now when closing the shell, make sure the 2 pins are sticking out of the blaster.Of course if it is tight, file it down a bit and lubricate it.

Take the pump grip assembly and insert it as such.

The red outer barrel is not glued on the gasket so technically these are all independent parts.

Insert the gasket firstly,
followed by the red barrel
and slide in the priming bar

and you'll get this.

Extract these 2 stubby screws from the zip-lock bag and screw that in to connect the priming bar and the 2 pins together.

As such.Make sure it is tight.

At this point of time,it is already a functional blaster. You can try priming it to see if there is any problems with it.It is better to know earlier rather than to hassle yourself on a lot of screws.

If it catches,de-prime it and get back to the mod guide.
If it doesn't,open up the shell(yes, take that priming grip off)

Troubleshoot the problem.

Step #4

At this point, the hard part is over and now,to the shell itself.

Take the MCX shell covers for the left-hand side of the Ret shell and slot it to its respective place.

Make sure you connect the priming bar cover and the receiver cover properly. The picatinny rail should align.

Do the same for the other half of the Ret.

Screw it into place.Just use the screw of the same size for each screw port.Except the one you've extracted earlier on.That one belongs to the respective port.

Also, don't forget to install this too.

Take 2 smaller screws from the zip-lock and tighten it on both sides.

It should result to this.

And now, you're pretty much done with the MCX installation.

Unless you don't have any grip of sort for the pump grip itself, then you're as good as screwed.Get a grip!Damn it
(heh,no pun intended)

Now put on the attachments of your preference and you're ready for shooting!

Congratulations! you have completed the tutorial. Have fun!
